The Carnegie library on Millington Street
Built around 1912 with Carnegie money, the library at 1001 Millington was designed by Oklahoma City architects.

Around 1912, Winfield built a library with help from Andrew Carnegie, like hundreds of towns across the country.
The Winfield Public Carnegie Library stands at 1001 Millington Street. Its design is credited to Smith and Parr, architects from Oklahoma City.
Carnegie paid for buildings on the condition that towns provide a site and pay to run the library. Many of those buildings are gone. Winfield’s is still standing, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
