The W. H. Coffin House at 421 E. 11th Ave. was built in 1892, at the peak of the Queen Anne style.
It is a two-story frame house with cedar weatherboard siding on a limestone foundation. The gables are trimmed with fish-scale shingles, also cedar, a common Queen Anne detail.
Queen Anne houses were popular from about 1880 to 1900, and Winfield has a number of them. This one was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
