Southwestern College has its new football coach, and he knows Kansas football.
Brad Griffin will be the 28th head coach in Southwestern’s 111 years of football. He comes from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he spent 11 years as defensive coordinator.
Griffin graduated from Nickerson High School in 1996. He started his college career at Hutchinson Community College and finished at Emporia State, where he was a two-year starter and a team captain.
His coach at Emporia State was Jerry Kill, a Southwestern graduate who later coached at Minnesota. For a program that likes to talk about its coaching tree, that connection matters.
Griffin takes over in time to put together his first recruiting class and spring practice.
