Board: Mulvane site has more revenue potential
State officials picked Peninsula Gaming's Mulvane proposal over Global Gaming's Wellington plan for the Sumner County casino.

After three rounds of bidding, the Sumner County casino has a developer.
State officials chose Peninsula Gaming’s proposal to build in Mulvane over Global Gaming’s plan for Wellington. The board’s reasoning came down to money: it decided the Mulvane site had more revenue potential.
Harrah’s had also proposed a Mulvane casino in this round but withdrew its application. That left Peninsula and Global Gaming as the only two bidders.
Mulvane’s location, closer to Wichita, was a key point in Peninsula’s favor. Wellington officials had hoped the casino would come to the county seat.
The selection ends a process that began in 2008. Peninsula now has to move ahead with financing and construction.
